Merry Christmas from the Family!

We had a laid back and enjoyable Christmas this year. Christmas Eve was pretty rainy and dreary, so we just relaxed. We went to the candlelight service at church and went to Coy's mom's house to eat barbeque and watch "It's A Wonderful Life". I missed taking the traditional "Heiner cousin" picture at church on Christmas Eve, but I guess since we're all grown now we're starting our own traditions.

We spent Christmas Day at Coy's sister's house. We ate Mexican food and made a gingerbread house with Todd. He kept putting half-eaten pieces of candy on it. Supposedly, that made them stick better. Next it was present time! Nothing's better than seeing a three year old and a 9-month old open presents. When Todd opened his present from us, he asked "Why did you get me a puzzle? That wasn't on my list."

On the day after Christmas, we made a quick road trip to San Antonio to celebrate with my family. I think I've gained a few pounds from eating so much junk over the past few days. I enjoyed spending time with everybody, but I'm glad to be home!

ICE!

Mom and Becca came to visit. We went up to the Gaylord Texan to see the Charlie Brown in ICE! Since we were close by, we also picked up Todd.

Monkeyin' Around

One day last week I came home to find a package on the front porch. At first I thought Coy had ordered a tractor part or something. I got a little excited when it was addressed to both Coy and I. Upon opening, this is what I found.....

Something about sock monkeys (even rainbow ones) is creepy to me. Apparently Coy has passed this information on to some of our friends!

Antique Alley

We decided to have a garage sale during Antique Alley (aka the 25 mile yard sale that happens every September and April). We set up everything on the corner of the pasture since lots of traffic would be passing by. We have been gathering things for awhile and it felt good to get that pile of junk out of the house.
Coy contributed a few things to the garage sale. (2 shirts, a pair of Wranglers, and a big puffy A&M jacket from middle school) Several times during the garage sale, he put things in his pocket that he thought we should keep. He may be a candidate for those hoarding shows on TV. :)
Coy wasn't very excited about sitting at a garage sale all day, so he had an idea to make it worth his time. He called a friend whose family has a produce stand and offered to sell some of their extra produce. Coy can now add "watermelon peddler" to his resume'.

Plans

Now that we're married, the two questions everyone asks are "How's married life?" and "When are you going to have kids?" My answers are "We haven't killed each other yet!" and "In a few years". We're not in any hurry to start having kids and we have a list (Yes, I love making lists!) of things we want to do. Right now it's a 5 year plan, but we'll see how everything turns out! For the last two weeks in church, it seems like the sermon really has reminded us of our plans and how it is the best thing for us. Last week talked about how sometimes we just have to wait! It would be nice to have everything NOW, but that's not always possible. Yesterday, Russell talked about how you have to be content with what you have before you can receive more. Yes, I would love to have a brand new kitchen and a remodeled bathroom, but it works for now and I should not complain about what I have.

Hello Country Bumpkin!

Just some things that I never thought I would be doing.....
Working cows
I was planning to sit in the truck, but Coy made me get out and work the gate. These big mamas can be stubborn sometimes.
Checking corn
My life revolves around when it is going to rain. Unfortunately this wasn't the year of the corn.(a.k.a. the year of the new kitchen!)

Following the tractor

There's nothing like going 10 mph down the road!

Newlyweds

Well we've been married for a week. We spent two relaxing nights at the Gaylord Texan after the wedding and then it was back to reality.
This past week has consisted of re-organizing and re-arranging to make room for Coy's things, putting away wedding presents, and just adjusting to married life. It's been great so far! We've been opening one wedding present every night, but will open the rest tomorrow.
Once I get the CD of pictures from the photographer, I'll do a wedding weekend re-cap.

Nesting?

I am actually relatively calm with just a little over a week until the wedding. (Ask me next week and it might be a different story!) Everybody keeps asking if everything is done and it pretty much is. If it isn't done by now, it wasn't that important anyways. I've made a list of one wedding task to do everyday. Today I scanned our childhood pictures to make a slideshow. Even though it's against the "wedding rules", I started putting some of our wedding gifts away today. I washed the towels and set up the bathroom. I also cleaned out one of the closets, so Coy will have a little space. My sister said it sounded like I was "nesting". I'm not sure where all of Coy's "treasures" will be going. Our house might look like an episode of Hoarders when it's all said and done. I started a Garage Sale box, so hopefully Coy will contribute some things also.

Hi

Here's my humble attempt to start blogging. I wanted to start this a year ago when everything exciting (new house, engagement, etc.) started happening, but it's better late than never, right? With the wedding coming up, I figured this would be a good place to start!
