Twister

Before I left school, one of the girls I teach with said that I better get home because the weather was getting bad. It was still sunny when I left school and looked a little dark further north, but I didn't think anything of it. After I had driven maybe 5 miles, cars started to pull over to the side of the road. I sort of felt like I was entering the twilight zone! It had started to rain but I still didn't see the big deal. I drove 5 more miles and then heard tornado sirens going off. I never saw anything, but apparently there was a small tornado just west of us.

The wind was blowing pretty hard and it was hailing (I may have been slightly freaking out!) I finally made it home. I'm still not used to all of this tornado business. When we were growing up, we had to worry about hurricanes. At least you have a few days to prepare for those!

Easter Weekend

On Friday, I just slept late and ran a few errands. I got a pedicure and ran around town. We were planning to go to the Drive-in movie on Friday night, but decided against it since it was an hour away. We ended up going to see "Water for Elephants". Coy and I both read the book, so we were excited to see it. It was an alright movie, but the book is definitely better (like it usually is).

On Saturday, I cooked green bean bundles and dirty rice to bring to Coy's family Easter. They eat a big dinner and have an Easter egg hunt. Last year, we had a wedding shower with his family on that same day since everybody was together. This year one of his cousins had their wedding shower. I guess it's starting to be an Easter tradition.

On Sunday, we got up early and went to church. We were reminded that we should treat everyday with the same excitement that we have on Easter. Coy's grandparents weren't able to make it on Saturday, so we all went over to their house later that afternoon.

I made it through this Easter without eating any Cadbury eggs and without dying Easter eggs. While those things are fun, it's nice to be reminded about what Easter is all about.
